24. Chippy Challenge (Both Activities)

Hi, 👋

this challenge was due yesterday (December 18th), obviously I have to get it done before I start on today’s challenge!

This very day, I obviously knew there was a new SLJ task waiting for me! So I went on their blog and realised I forgot to finish a task from yesterday. But yesterday, I’ve done an ocean activity that was actually made on the 17th 😬.  Anyways, I’m doing today’s ACTUAL task tomorrow. 🌚

This is the Kick Start activity. (Activity 1)

Here’s the first activity, the Kick Start.

Now that I’m on their blog, I scrolled to the task I forgot to do yesterday – “The Chippy Challenge”.

There was this video, of a guy explaining what to do on the first activity (This one) whilst eating Fish and Chips. Later on, I scrolled to the slideshow and watched the two videos under the heading “Ako | Learn”. The first video, was about fish and chips tips with Kiwi Top Chef. Then the second video was basically about fish and chips and its origin.

Then, under the heading “Hanga | Create” there are instructions talking about creating a unique Fish and Chip menu. Then on the menu, it asks us to include specific words on the menu, which I did.

I’ve created my poster on Canva and here it is (Updated):

This is now the Step It Up activity. (Activity 2)

Now we’ve moved on to the Step It Up Challenge, the second Activity.

Basically, on this activity, I was told by this guy on another video to create a logo for the fish and chips menu on either a Google drawing or Google slideshow. As you can see, I’ve already created a logo on the menu on the first activity. But no worries, I created a completely new one on my Google Draw.

After that video, I watched two videos again, about the origin of Fish and Chips. They were very interesting.

Anyways, here’s my Logo! :

Shout out to my parents for helping me! Leave a comment and feel free to ask me all the questions you have (!), I’ll be sure to reply on time. 😁

Have a Lovely holiday and remember Christmas is JUST next week 🥳!  God loves you, SEE YA. 🤗♡

24. Narwhals: Unicorns of the Sea – SLJ (Both Activities)

Nice to see you!

Today’s challenge from the SLJ, is about Narwhals and Beluga Whales!

______________________

Here is the Kick Start activity about Narwhals. (Activity 1)

Today, I woke up and knew I had to do another SLJ post! So here I am. First thing, I opened my Chromebook to gain access to the SLJ’s blog, to see what they’ve challenged us to do for today. After five scrolls, there I found recent posts from Georgie Hamilton who happen to challenge me to the first Activity (Kick start) — Narwhals.

Here are the things I’ve done step-by-step: I’ve watched this video, about a girl who seemingly arises up to the camera wearing a snorkel to indicate shes underwater. She then removes the snorkel to greet us and then talks about her journey of trying to find unicorns, but instead, finds Narwhals. Shortly after, she proceeds to describe the Narwhals features and how beautiful it appears as.

There’s a slideshow under the video, so I searched along the slideshow then on it, there were three headings – “Ako | Learn, Hanga | Create, and, Tohatoha | Share.”

Under the heading “Ako | Learn” is a link that appears to be first, mentioning a video spitting facts about the Narwhal. Under that link, appears to be another link, that leads to a website where you could read facts about the Narwhals. Then lastly, beneath THAT link, goes another link that exchanges you to a Colouring Page website. The website has multiple colourless drawings of Narwhals for you to colour in!

Next, the words that are positioned under the heading “Hanga | Create” are the instructions instructing on what to do next in this kick up activity. It clarifies to create a copy of a Google Draw template, to use it to design a poster that gives those a greater understanding of Narwhals. On the poster, it demonstrates for me to include the few facts I’ve learnt off of those links from the previous heading. If I wanted, I could add my own image of my Narwhal I coloured. Which I did.

Then on the last heading “Tohatoha | Share” it asks me to share my journey.

Here’s my first poster:

(The second one on the bottom says: “Narwhals are known as The Unicorns of the Sea.”)

Were moving on to the Step it Up Challenge about Beluga Whales! (Activity 2)

Made by the same person (Georgie Hamilton), is the Step It Up Challenge (activity 2), which is now about Beluga whales!

Here are the things I’ve done step-by-step (Again I guess): First steps, I again, watched another video with the same girl in it! I assume her name is Georgie. She appears on screen, with her snorkel still on but off her mouth, as she greets us again. She explains that she was very excited learning about the Narwhal(s) earlier, so she decided to go back for more, and this time learn about the Beluga Whale! “Just like the Narwhal, Belugas have a nickname too – “Canaries of the Sea.” because of the different sound it makes.” She says.

Once again, there’s a slideshow under the video, as I searched the slideshow, I found the same three headings from the previous slideshow – “Ako | Learn, Hanga | Create, and, Tohatoha | Share.” Under Ako and Hanga, has links.

Under the Ako heading, there are three links that go under eachother. First link asks us to watch a video about Beluga Whales, The second link asks us to read about Beluga Whales, and the last one clarifies me to Re-read about the whale.

Then under the heading, Hanga, it asks me to make a copy of another Google Draw. With all the information I’ve collected from under the Ako headings link, about the Beluga whale and Narwhals, I can use those information(s) to write the descriptions, similarities, differences, strengths and weaknesses on the card.

In the Google draw, there are two cards – one for the Narwhal, the other for the Beluga Whale. The cards are playing cards, and I’d say, the cards reminded me of Pokémon cards. (I think that’s what they intended for it to look like.)

Anywho, here’s my Google Draw poster:

24. Down the Drain environment – Reading

Hello, last week, we were focusing on this slideshow for reading. It’s about drains, and how we could save the ocean.

I skipped some slides due to the fact I couldn’t finish them on time which is unfair to be honest, so if you’re a bit confused that’s on me, sorry. Credits on the last slide

Anyway, here’s my slideshow:

24. Three Billy Goats Gruff – Writing

Hey Y’all. Last week we’ve been working on writing a story called, Three Billy Goats Gruff, EXCEPT, we had to write down the perspective of one of the characters.

The character perspective I wrote was the Troll’s point of view in the story, I tried my best to write what the Troll thinks/heard from the video, but changed it.

My friend and my sister connected our story but on different docs! My sister wrote the Oldest Goat point of view and my friend chose to write the Middle goats perspective.

Anyways, here’s our story, please inform me of any mistakes: Three Billy Goats Gruff (TROLL),  The 3 Billy Goats Gruff (OLDER GOAT),

My friend isn’t done writing hers, I’ll be sure to update y’all when she does.
