25. Co-operation! – KiwiCan

Hola Reader.

On Friday we had KiwiCan. Our Theme is still Positive Relationships, and our topic is ‘What is Cooperation?’

The KiwiCan leaders, Here and Glaytor, introduced us to a country called – Argentina, and I am going to tell you some of the facts they taught us. – The greeting In Argentina is Hola which is why I greeted you saying ‘Hola’, this country is located on the south American side, the three colours on the Argentina flag is Blue, White, and Yellow, the yellow is seen in the middle of the flag as the sun, the blue is in between the white on the sides horizontally, the Tango dance was created in Argentina, you may know Lionel Messi who plays for Argentina, the population is 46 Million people, their currency is Pesos, the capital of Argentina is Buenos Aires, and lastly I believe, their national animal is the Rufous Hornero, a Bird.

They then showed us their new catchphrase presenting about Cooperation – “KiwiCan Says, Co-operation is all about working together and helping out!”.

Our energiser which I believe is spelt Hoop De Hoop, is a game where all individuals go in a circle holding hands, then the starting person is given a hula hoop in between their arms to pass around without letting go of anyone’s hand. The Hula hoop goes around until the starting person receives it again. As my class was doing this energiser, we managed to get the hoop around in 44 seconds with an amazing method we’ve done, mind you there was no practising, which meant we beat the highest score which was 1 minute. HOWEVERR, when replaying back the clip, the KiwiCan leaders spotted someone letting go of another which meant we didn’t beat the score but we could’ve.

We then revised on what we’ve done in the energiser talking about the positives that happened as we were playing. After loads of questions was our Activity.

Our activity was called ‘Sing with Pride’ (I think) and in this activity, we were told to get in groups of 5 people, but mine had 6, and each team was to go to a hula hoop and sit around it. One of the KiwiCan leaders, Glaytor, had to call out a word that could be related to a song, and our buzzer to answer was “Co-operation”, essentially putting our hands in the middle then lifting them up. I’m positive my team won by singing the most songs. We had 4 points!

After the activity, we answered questions, then went in a circle to play GKQ (General Knowledge Question(S)). The previous winner has to start anywhere they want, they have to compete by answering questions first. If someone loses against another, that person who lost sits down as the person who won against the one who lost, has to move on to the next person until the end. – Our previous winner was Mairerangi, and our winner now is Exodus who just left our school which I guess leaves us to no winners? Who knows?

Let me know if you enjoyed anything on my writing.

That’s all I believe, thanks for reading!

Ni hao, reader?

Today in KiwiCan, we’re talking about Positive Communication, as it’s our topic. And for the big T (Theme) is Positive Relationships.

What is Communication? Communication contains speaking respectfully, listening, not talking over others.

What is Positive Communication? Positive communication, is something that should be used frequently towards others, as a great outcome can possibly happen to you. Positive communication is also expressed by sign language, body language and facial expressions. Using positive communication could make someone’s day, or improve their mood, essentially making them happier than they were.

As for the country we learnt about today, it was China. We’ve learnt about various facts about this amazing country. – Their national animal is a Panda. Did you know the colours on the China flag have meanings(?) the yellow stars represent their important leaders, as for the red on their flag, it represents the people. There are 2 republics in China. The currency in China is Chinese Yen. The capital  of China is Beijing.

The energiser we participated in during KiwiCan, was ‘Compliment Circle’. In this energiser, we were told to form groups of 5’s, mine had six however but it’s okay. Then after we’ve created groups, we sat down in a circle and in the circle, one person had to stand up and those sitting had to compliment / say something good about that person standing.

After asking questions about the energiser, we moved on to our activity. The activity that was done was Naughts and Crosses. For a better understanding, Naughts and Crosses is like Tic Tac Toe but we had to use ourselves as the X’s and O’s (Girls and Boys) It was challenging but we managed.

Then we did GKQ (General Knowledge Questions), basically we had to form a circle, and the previous winner has to walk to the centre of the circle and choose which direction to start compete with others. If the person competing answers the question before their competition, they’ll be the one in the centre as it carries on until the last person.

Remmeber; In KiwiCan, we don’t play games, we learn new things (Skills), Life skills you can use anywhere any time.

KiwiCan is about learning values.

That’s all I believe, thank you for reading!
